My two cents:
1. I have a very common name and it seems I did not have trouble because of name check. If I google search my full name it will come out more than 18 millions results. Do not worry too much about name check even if you have a very common name.
2. Making phone call about your case is useful. You may not get right information that you want but it could make your case “alive”.
