1. your univesity needs to file a H1 petition for you
2. you can only work as H1 after your H1 petition is approved. your status changes to H1 since then
3. if you don't want to travel outside the US, you don't need to have a visa stap.
4. if you do want to get a H1 visa stamp in 3rd country, the chance is above 90%
