I think your family are in serious trouble now. Cannot blame 律師的失誤, it's up to the person to maintain their legal status. Personl negilence is not a ground for USCIS to make exceptions. So it's better for them to leave US now before 6 month overstay. It is risky to file appeal, it might take one year, and if it is denied, your family subject to 10 year bar.
