what is the exact meaning of concurrent filing

I plan to file EB-1b 140 next month, since the Eb1 is current, I also want to file 485, but I do not know the exact meaning of the concurrent filing. Some people said you need to have receipt number or approval notice of 140 to file 485, but I am worrying once I get the receipt number of 140, it may have been september, and if at that time the Eb1 got retrogression, and it is not current anymore (which maybe possible), I will lose the opportunity to file 485. Could anybody tell me if I may send out the application of 140 and 485 together in August? Thank you very much!
