There is nothing wrong with your plan, but the only unkown is the process time for status transfer and so on. You might want to consult with the ISO of your school to find out the average time required to transfer and act accordingly. Perhaps you should get your RN registration first before you can think of green card. It takes time to prepare for the exam.

Actually, you can appeal I485 petition if there is a problem, this is the time to use a lawyer.
