Congradulations for getting your new credit card. It will help you as long as you don't overshop.
I believe you post this messsage based on good deeds, and hope to help people who need the credit card. However, I'd like to point out two issues so people will not get confused.
1) The one you got is for college students. They do this to promote future potehtial customers to spend. So, if you are not a FULL TIME student you CANNOT use this.
2) Since this is a promotion plan, it depends on who process it. If you apply for credit card in US, they will always ask you if you are a PR. If you answer no, most of the time they will deny your application. Because they don't want to see people leave an unpaid statement and never come back. However, there might be a time for promotion sale so they approved your application or the person who processed it didn't even look at this.
Yet, it is still true that the credit card is very convenient for daily living and can build up your credit history gradually. People who don't have it and wanted one should keep trying to apply for one. Another issue raised here is, the credit you build up based on your ITIN may not go with you when you get a real SSN in the future. This is left for you to prove in the future.
By the way, there are alternatives to get a credit card. Some banks will issue their credit cards if you open up an account there, but they need someone who has a real SSN to cosign your credit card application. Meaning you both share the same credit card account. You can start building your credit history from there and will start getting pre-approved credit card application promotion mail a little bit later. Then you can apply for your own credit card and close the joint credit card account.
I hope what I said didn't discourage you. Enjoy your new credit card.
Not always true.
