I don't know how the adults are. But I know how to get the american passport for kids if they are born here.

Some of the big post offices help the passort application. Make an appointment, fill out forms and bring the birth certificate and you have to go to post office with your kid and your spouse together. Post office mails your application to somewhere. After 8-12 weeks, the passport will be mailed to your home. If you would pay $100 more, you can get it faster.
