EB-1A actually is easy.

I applied EB-1A when I just graduated from University. Paper is less than 10, no citation at all. Haha, but I passed.

The key is to find your brillant points others don't possess. Never use a lawyer. It is your case not theirs. They are interested to money. You can devote thousands of hours in your case, but your lawyer will not just for $4000. That is difference. Since you are applying for EB-1A, you can study by yourself. The necessary background is very easy to collect.
