1. Go to http://www.u-haul.com/ to find a location close to your place. Then go over there to take a look and ask them questions. We are not doing that kind of business so we are not able to answer you precisely.

2. I am not sure the rates of USPS. I used UPS but my friends told me USPS is also not too bad. I need to remind you that neigher of them handle your stuff with care. You need to wrap your stuff with extra protections.

I do suggest you to take a trip to those places to find out yourself.
