If you have no receipt number, you have no way to check any information from USCIS.

Did you pay the check of the application fee? If YES, you could find some information from that check. Usually, there is the receipt # at back of the check. If NO, you could only get information from your lawyer. Such as, you could ask them the track number of the mail et al.
