H1B急問

請教各位朋友，我的朋友的H1B在6/9過期，在5/24，他申請了H1B renew，送到加州中心。按他律師的說法，隻要在6/9之前收到新H1B review的receipt,他就可以繼續合法的工作。現在一個星期過去了，他的申請費也沒被cash，他現在擔心，如果6/9之前，他沒有收到receipt，會怎樣？
