what you mentioned is right. But there are several things that you need to confirm:
1. Call the police to make sure that they would do the finger print for you. My local police station doesn't do that and finally I did that in a local jail.
2. Ask finger print place whether they have finger print card. You might need to download from FBI website if they don't have that for you.
3. You might need to pay via money order instead of personal check. I forgot about that. But you can find that information from FBI website.
