With EAD if you lose the current job you can work for any

employer of a similar job nature without need for h1b visa sponsoring since many employers are not willing to sponser H1b visa. If you are confident that you can stay at the current job until you get 485 approved there is no need to apply for EAD. It's better to keep H1b.
