I am not 100% sure but I think you can stay here waiting for your H1 approval when your OPT expires.
I know a guy who had a similar situation like you. But it was 5+ years ago, I am not sure whether rules change or not.
He stayed in US waiting for his H1 approval. He resigned when his OPT expired and the company rehired him back when his H1 got approved.
