My RD and Recept# vs. my attorney (hired by company)

The attorney hired by my company seems to be reluctant to give me the receipt number of my I-140 filing. Can anybody share the tip or experience of twisting the attorney's arms to get the receipt number so that I can check my I-140 status myself? Many thanks in advance.
