求教小白兔、mytwocent: EAD Expires in one week, what should I do

EAD will expire in one week (May 17th). EAD renewal notice has been received at CIS, but check has not been processed yet.

It does not appear that my EAD will get renewed before it expires, do I have to stop working and wait until EAD renewed before I can start to work again? Or since I have mailed the renewal application, so I can keep working? How do I prove that I still have legal status to work during this waiting period for my EAD??
