Try to push your institute HR

If they work a little hard, your h1 extension might send out within 1 month. However, usually they will tell you how many work they need do everyday and how many people apply visa et al.

Try to prepare any documents quickly, including forms, cv, degree certificate.... anything similar with new H1 application.

Call them and send them email everyday. You will fine. I did it 2 years ago.
