Please help: I-485 pending, EDA issue

every year i have to renew my EDA. my current EDA is expiring at the end of this month, but my new card is not here yet (filed one week ago) . Will I be able to work during this gap period? I am currently working for a big pubicly traded company. What are the chances that I can get checked. Thank you for your help!!
