Can son under 21 come to US by himself after his father's sudde

My friend's ex-hu*****and and her son applied for the relationship immigration years ago and was approved at the beginning of this year. Their visa expiration date is August 21. But the hu*****and dead suddenly two months ago, the question is that whether the son who is under 21 can come to the US by himself? The son's grandma who is a US citizen supported the immigration application. And the hu*****and's name * 2 shows on all the applications forms. (Sorry if my English is not good enough to describe the situation, and myself is not familiar with the relationship immigration.) Please help the poor son of my friend!
