I walked in SSN local office, packed up a call-number then was waiting in the line (if you make an appointment with them, you will go first). filled out an application form which can be downloaded from the SSN Website or get it at the local office. when it was our turn, we gave the officer our application form along with our EAD and photo ID (also we brought all applaction materials of 485 because our EAD is based on its c9). they went through our files, asked us some really basic questions, and that was it. the officer did not ask our other materials, it should be no problem at all just waited hours in the line.

you can also get a lawyer to do it for you (I saw some applied for others), but i'm not sure how that goes exactly.
