it's best to have EAD before you travel with AP.
When I entered US with AP, the officer asked me to show the EAD. Unfortunately, my EAD is still pending. I told the officer that I am working with H1B, he said:"your status is AOS, how come you are still working with H1B?".I have to tell him that my EAD application has been filed for a long time, and it is still pending...and the officer told me that Don't forget to bring the EAD card with me next time.
