F2-F1, thanks first

hi,
1.how long it will take from f2-f1, someone told me is 3, 4 month, some one said 5, someone 8, INS said 5.
But there was also some people said only 2,
2. my advisor from school told me that if I registered more than 3 credits, it's very dengous to me, is that true?
