dear friends, I am planning to go back to China in July. Here is my situation and I would appreciate if anyone has experience about getting h1b visa back in similar situations.
I came to us on F1. Last time back to china was end of 1998.
Now i am teaching college (since 04). sent in my I-140 in march but have not heard anything yet.
If i go back to china in this situation, how much is the risk of not getting visa back?
What if my I-140 gets approved by the time i go? Does that help reduce the risk?
I read in iflychina.com one guy got his H-1b "checked" because he has not been back to china for 9 years. Is that common? Do they always check you if you have not been back for a long time?

Thanks you so much. I am stressed out over this. Should I take the risk?
Me not coming back to america is small matter. But then who is going to teach those american students next semester?
