Second Application for PERM advanced degrees: EB2 vs EB3?

I already got my LC approval for skilled workers (we didn't know the different types of LC). Then if I decide to continue with the I140, I have to apply for EB3, which I don't want to do. If I decide to apply again for PERM for advanced degrees/EB2, can I still have the priority date of my first PERM application, which was last October? Thanks a lot. I need to talk to my manager, attorney and HR shortly.
