Xiaobaitu and other experts please help

My wife is in valid H4 right now, and she filed F1 petition online and got the recept notice early this month. Can she go to Canada for Landing and come back to U.S. using her current I-94? Somebody told me that if she leave and re-enters U.S., her previous F1 petition will be void, and she has to re-file F1?
