I don't know what the risk is about. If you are thinking about entering Canada, there should be no problem as long as your Canadian visa is valid. If you are thinking of entering US, the safest way is to bring your AP with you.

2 登陸後可否當天返美，還是必須等楓葉卡到手後才能走？如需等待，大約多少 天？如當天走人，楓葉卡怎麽辦？
You can come back to U.S. the same day. The critical point is to have a canadian address. You need to provide that address when you are entering Canada therefore the Canadian INS can initiate the maple card process for you.
