Help on H1 and 485, please

I am holding H1 currently. I expect my priority date will come on May 1st, so I plan to apply 485 in May. But I need to go back to China in June and I don't think I can get my AP by the end of May. My questions are
(1) Can I apply H1B after I submit my 485? I think I don't need to go to the embassy to apply for H1B this time because I got my H1B visa last September from US embassy in China. Do I have to use AP to leave US after I submit my 485?
(2) My wife is still in China and she will come in July. Can she apply H4 after I submit my 485? If she apply H4 before I submit my 485, is her H4 visa valid if she comes to US after I submit my 485?
