question about gc application

HI
1) My company started gc application for me in August, 2003.
2) I also got married on August 2003, and submit the I485 I140 in Dec 2003 based on the marriage.

My question is
1) Since marriage gc is a conditional one, and I always want to get gc on my own, I would like the case submitted by my company still keep going. Should I tell my company that I have submitted I485 based on marriage? I am afraid that they will stop my case if they know my situation.

2) Even if I don't tell them my situation, it is possible that they will find it out very soon. What will be the consequences if that happened?
