use EAD or H1, pls

we couple are H1b in academic institutes. My hu*****and applied NIW, I140 approved and our 485 pending. I am unhappy with the current job and applying another job. My question is: should I still apply H1 (it may take some time) or simply use EAD (hold but never used before)? If there is no difference, I am prefer to use EAD. Any suggestion? Thanks a lot.
