you need to identify for what possible reasons they asked for the grant copy. ... then you may figure out what substitute evidence you can use to serve this purpose, such as, a letter from your former advisor, or from Grant and contract office of your former employer if your name on the grant.

Just think about it. you will find a way to get out of the trouble.
