Do they send reciepts for EAD/AP petition?

Does the USCIS send receipts for EAD/AP applications like I-140/485 appicaiton? I submitted my EAD/AP in early Dec 2005, but until now I haven't got any reciept or notice. Can I call them for this matter? Please share information. Thanks.
