AP Question?

My current status is I485 pending and just got my AP a couple of days ago. I was planning to visit my parents in China in late Jan, around Chinses New Year. Sadly, I was told that I might have troubles to reenter the U.S. since I had legal problems with my status in the past, and I was suggested to delay the traveling until I obtain the green card. Some posts on Wenxuecity said If the person had status problems in the past, and it doesn't matter in what current status you are, you are not allowed to reenter the U.S in 3-10 years once you left the States unless you already hold the green cards. Does anyone have any comfirmed information on this issue or know where I can find related legal policies? Thanks a lot! Happy holidays!
