I have a valid (valid till 06/2006) multi-entry F-1 visa now and my employer submitted application to change my F-1 to H-1B yesterday. But I must go back to China soon and return on 01/16/2006. My question is that if my application of changing F-1 to H-1B is approved before I come back, will I have a problem to reenter the US due to the change of my status? If my state date in H-1B is 01/20/2006, do I need to apply for H-1b visa in China?
Thanks for your help,
Question of going back to China during F-1 to H1B?

H1B status is not equal to H1b visa

of course it may depend on when your H1b status becomes valid

If you come back before 1/20, should be OK.
