You have only 1 year for your H (doesn't matter H-1 or H-4, they are all H). But you have two ways:
1. If your I-140 had approved, and filed I-485, you can apply EAD, which allow you to extend annaully, or you can file H-1 extension (another three years till your GC is approved or denied)
2. If your I-140 has approved, but you didn't file I-485, you can file H extension after 6 years of your H three years till you file I-485, then goes to the situation 1.
