You can try to come back once a year or more often. As long as your GC is not taken away at the port, you are still a PR. Even if the immigration officer thinks you are not intended to stay here as a PR, you should be allowed to enter and appear in an immigration court. The judge will decide your fate. In that case, you should present some evidence that you intend to come back after a few years. Such evidence include having family members in the US, having real estate, bank accounts, and other assets.
