If I remember correctly, there was one NSC buddy in this forum got RFE from officer No. 1. You may dig out the old post and check the details.

From my point of view, you have met the requirement of the National interest, which is critical. You just need to get more reco letters or evidence of the applications of your works. You should make it after reply for RFE...
