What is the contract you signed? And at what step, you stopped using his/her service? Did you give him/her a written notice to inform that you were not satisfied with their service and would like to discontinue to use their service?

In case he sues you, you need to prove that he did not provide the service they should have. You need to keep the documents you did to yourself which led to your GC application approval.

Be careful to sign the contract. If you decide to stop using the lawyer's service, you need to give them a written notice, and also you need to inform USCIS that you fired your lawyer and request to remove the lawyer's contact information from your case or replace the contact information with your new lawyer's.
