Many of our folks in this forum have well summarized and characterized different categories of 140 petition. The following is my PERSONAL opinion for your reference.
My experience told me that you have to weigh yourself first. This means you should study well the specific requirements of individual category and place yourself there to see if you meet the requirements. It is actually not difficult at all once you take several minutes to carefully read it. Since different category has set different criteria, it is then hard to see that your case is strong. It may be strong enough for one category, but not for the other. What I really want to make it clear is that you have to know what you are going to prepare in terms of recommendation letters and petition letter. Don't start doing anything before you know what you want, which unfortunately is way too common in this forum. One more thing I want to address is the importance of the petition letter. You can not overemphasize its importance as it is the first thing to present your case to the officer. Generally speaking, the officer has almost made a decision after s/he finishes reading it. I do think some folks here need to find a good lawyer as their language is not good enough to present their case (I am fortunate to have gotten a lot of help from my friends as well as my boss as my english is not good either. I am really grateful for their enthusiastic supports!). Your money worth it and a good lawyer deserves that money.
Again, this is my personal opinion and here I am not speaking for anyone who is an attorney as I did my case diy. I sincerely hope it helps. Good luck to everyone! Please forgive me if I don't answer your questions as I am not in a position to give answers. However, comments and critics are welcome!
For those who are about to start their 140--------------
