"it is only by using an EAD or AP that an alien forfeits his nonimmigrant status" --- Using AP will result in loss of H1B status? My school told me that I can keep and extend H1B after using AP.

It is so messed. I think that I will apply for H1B at US embassy in Beijing rather than use AP for my oncoming travel.
