Mine was sent November 2004, received acknowledgement of receipt March 2005, have not heard anything further since then. But it seems that October 2004 applicants started receiving IA in October 2005, hope I can get IA in this month. Then it will be medical exam and finger prints for security check, which may well take another 3 months. Then mail in the passport for stamp for another month.

Even everything goes smoothly, it will take one and half years. Things may improve though if more temp workers are hired to process the backlogged cases as reported by Canadian Immigration minister.
