One good thing out of the RFE

is that you got chance to argue your case. I believe that you have another ten something weeks to accomplish it. Collect more reference letters emphasizing your extraordinary ability. Ask your advisor, project sponshor, or independent referee to draft a very good letter describing the importance of your current or past projects and your extraordinary and indispensible role. If possible, hire a good laywer to draft a good rebuttal letter addressing all the questions raised in the RFE. Your background is OK for EB-1A. I know some cases that were weaker than yours got approved. TSC and CSC seems to be easies than other two centers.

By the way, you can file another 140 under NIW. However, I do not think you can do 485 transfer. If my memory is right, 485 transfer can only be tranferred to an approved 140 and the PD for the 140 must be current.
