I am getting confused. I think "Interview" does not mean the I-485 approval. So your friend, born in mainland China, has interview in Jan, 2005 but got I-485 approval after Oct. 01, 2005, right? This is really an exciting good news! (I assume your friend's PD is after 2000, right?)
