somebody got 485 approved even without a job a for pretty long time (work wihtout pay for a national lab though). And in many cases interview is not conducted. However, I prefer to prepare for the worst scenario and three month without work will be easily shown on your pay stub which could be needed for the possible interview. So you should choose what to do.
