Why should I participate in the HUB Plan?

The main motive of this plan is to bring forth a group effort. A couple of mailed petitions would probably fail to create an impact on a senator. But when he receives a whole package of say 50 signed petitions, it would definitely create an impact on him. That is one aspect of the plan. Another aspect is that as an individual I may feel a little uncomfortable mailing the senator, but if there are 50 other people with me, I feel much more comfortable.

Besides, note that these are only request-letters, not even petitions. They do not ask for any unnecessary details, that you would feel uncomfortable to disclose, such as your employer’s name etc. Also these are written keeping all of the people in mind who are /will be affected by the retrogression (1) EB1, EB2, EB3 (2) people with cases in BEC & PERM. (3) And also, people who have yet to file their labor certifications.

What would I need to do?

· Typically, there would be one HUB Volunteer per state.

· Please refer the Hub details spreadsheet at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/techworkers/files >> “The HUB PLAN” folder >> HUB-DETAILS.xsl You would need to do the following:

· (1) Pick your state from the list (2) Note down the postal address of your HUB volunteer & the names of the senators (2 senators per state). Every state will have an entry such as:

· NOTE: If you don’t find your state in this list, it means that nobody has come forward as the HUB volunteer for your state! If you wish, you could step in as the HUB volunteer. To do that you would just have to mail me your postal address at [e-mail] and I will add your address and the 2 senators for your state (I can find that for you) to this list.

· If you find your state in the list: All you need to do is take print outs of the letters in the “HUB PLAN” folder, sign them and post them to your HUB volunteer’s postal address. The details on how to fill these letters are as follows. I have tried to make them as simple and as generic as possible. However, you are free to add/ delete/ edit the contents.

Letter # 1A or 1B: (2 copies) – one for Senator # 1 & one for Senator # 2:

Depending on whether you have already filed your labor certification or not I have come up with 2 petitions “1A_Petition_GC_Filed.doc” or “1B_Petition_GC_Not_Yet_Filed.doc” Select the one that suits you, fill in the highlighted part (refer the hub details for senators name), sign & print. Print 2 copies, one for each senator (don’t forget to change the Senator Name)

Letter # 2: (1 copy) – for AILA:

Print & Sign this after filling in the highlighted part.

Letter # 3: (1 copy) for Industrial Leaders, such as, Bill Gates etc:

Print & Sign this after filling in the highlighted part.
· So you now have 4 printouts that you would post to your HUB Volunteer. That is all you have to do as a Techworker!

What would a HUB Volunteer need to do once he starts receiving letters by post?

· All he would need to do is receive the mails he gets by post from all of the Techworkers.

· After the deadline, he would sort them into 3 packets

· Mail 2 packets to 2 senators in his state with a cover letter (I will mail the cover letter to all the HUB volunteers). NOTE: The cover letter need not have the name of the HUB volunteer. It will be from the Techworkers group. The HUB Volunteer is just a person who collects all the letters and mails them to the senators/Next HUB.

* The MAIN HUB would be any one of the HUB VOLUNTEERS (any one state) – What that means is that all the HUB Volunteers will mail the “AILA” letters & “Industry-leader” letters they receive to this main HUB who would (1) mail this country-wide package of letters to AILA
(2) Mail copies of all the “industry-leader” letters to all the big shots.

The HUB deadline is 23rd OCT. Your HUB Volunteer SHOULD RECEIVE YOUR HUB LETTERS BY 23RD OCTOBER; else they will not be included in the HUB Packets! Please also allow for some margin due to postal delays. MAIL your HUB Letters NOW!!
