biometrics appointment in MA

My I485 approval notice has just arrived (RD 03/05, FP 07/05, AD 09/05). It says “call 1800….. number (NCS) to schedule an appointment for biometrics”. I have called NCS and they gave me an appointment. However, I think it would be better to bring an appointment notice when I go to the office for biometrics. Does NCS usually send you a notice when you made an appointment? Does the local office accept the “verbal” appointment? Thank you very much if you could share your experience!

FYI, you can not make an appointment for biometrics through InfoPass in Boston. I made an appointment for passport stamping through InfoPass, went to JFK building. They told me they do not do biometrics there, and I have to call.
