No, your previous company can continue your Green Card application.
1,Ask them to apply I140 for you.
2,When you submit I485, USCIS may RFE two letters,
a)Prvious company agree to hire you back when GC is approved.
b)Current company agree to let you leave when GC is approved.
3,So keep you current H1.
