h1 traveling while visa extens

so many poster confused me. my visa will be expired on Feb28th and just submited extension last week. i booked ticket to china and will come back on Jan31th.

our international center said that i can go, but the posters here confused me.

anyone had the same experience please advise, thanks a lot in advance.
