To living in Hawaii in very nice. I believe you will like there than most of the cities in Mainland.
It is a state of US, it is just US. There is no difference in living there. You can apply for the GC, to California center. It is also relatively faster than before (~0.5yr for I-140 in the past year). The living cost is expensive, equavient to the eastern coast, like NJ. Cheaper than Boston.
The only problem is the job positions are not as many as in mainland.
Overall, it is vert worth to have the experience in living there. If you can achieve something there, e.g., a degree, it will a plus. I have lived there for many years.
