I had the same experience. Filed I485 in Dec. 2003. I contacted my congressman and a senator and was told that my application was waiting for namecheck for a while. The congressman's office contacted FBI on this issue three weeks ago and then I got I485 approved last week.

I would encourgae people to contact their congressmen or senators if they face similar difficulties.
