急！F1遞交485後， F1身份是否自動失效？？？

我們在140通過後， 趕在本月遞交了485，但兩人都是F1(一人正在OPT,準備辦理H1)

但是，學校國際學生辦公室的負責人說，“F1遞交485後，
1. F1身份自動失效; 且有可能無法申請H1;
2. 而且在遞交485後到拿到EAD卡之前，收入屬於非法；現在的OPT也是無效的....

但是我的律師的回答和上述完全相反！
